All Time Design spam will arrive your inbox weekly. They won’t let you unsubscribe to the emails you never asked to receive. That’s their “strategy.”
The All Time Design Spam Problem
All Time Design isn’t some Viagra shop or Canadian pharmacy. The company offers remote, low-cost design services. They’re based in Singapore and have a U.S. office in Newark, Delaware.
Their marketing strategy seems to be as follows:
- Purchase email lists. (Do not, do not, do not do this — here’s why.)
- Create a sender email address associated with either a real person or a fake person. (In this case, the emails come from Jason Hauer, jason@alltimedesign.com, Head of Growth at All Time Design. Weirdly, Jason Hauer introduces himself in one email as Fazal. Spam is hard.)
- Blast everyone on that email list weekly until one of two things occurs: (1) you purchase their services or (2) you close your email account and retire to Fiji.
- Include no “unsubscribe” or opt-out option for the emails you never subscribed to in the first place. (See #3.)
Mailchimp, Mailer Lite, Constant Contact, and other legit email service providers enforce anti-spam laws, including the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. They require you to include an unsubscribe link in the campaign emails you send. If a company lets you buy bulk lists and email those lists without including an opt-out link, that company is a shady email blast service provider.
In short, the All Time Design spam problem stems is born of (1) in-house initiatives or (2) the strategies recommended by their marketing agency. Let’s explore this idea further.
What Do You Want Your Brand to Look Like?
Some companies aren’t interested in organic, on-page SEO options. They also don’t want to build their email lists in a legit fashion, create backlinks from other sites, or pay for ads.
These companies hire marketing firms that buy email lists. They spam the masses, include no opt-out links in their emails, and hope some of those emails convert. Or they skip the marketing firm altogether and handle the spamming on their own. Jason Hauer may be part of the All Time Design spam team. Or he may work for the spam marketing agency that supports All Time Design. Or he may be a made up person. Who knows.
In other words, All Time Design isn’t alone here. With 32 million businesses in the U.S. alone, you can be sure that several million are on the spam track.
Now, companies that want fast cash tend to focus on the “here and now” vs. long-term revenue. The best way to get your spam show up and running quickly is to hire the shadiest marketing company you can find. They’ll call their efforts captive audience marketing. They’ll call themselves growth hackers and innovative strategists. Then they’ll do the least innovative, most hacker-like thing in the world and spam the known universe until they close some business.
Buying email lists and then blasting emails to unsuspecting audiences is spammy. People don’t weeding through piles of crap they never requested. Do you really want to be that guy?
Consider exploring legit ways to build traffic to your site and legit ways to build an email list. You’ll reinforce your good name, and you won’t feel icky. Win-win.
Fast Wins + Zero Fluff = Game Changer
Get on the list to receive periodic marketing tips and tricks to empower you to eliminate random acts of marketing, improve your marketing aim, and fire on all cylinders. Expect fast-win informational goodness that you can put into action straightaway. (This here’s an example of a legit list building effort. I won’t email you unless you ask me to, and I’ll never spam you or rent or sell your email address.)
