SEO marketing made easy involves simple, straightforward tips that don’t require you to hire a big-budget SEO agency (or get an SEO PhD, thank God).
SEO Marketing Made Easy
Relevant content, crawlability, and credibility are the three search engine optimization (SEO) “C’s” — the three key factors that contribute to your search engine rankings. (Before we get too deep, let me clarify that “crawlability” is a word for our purposes here. I don’t like it either, but there you go.)
Search engine rankings are the positions your site holds within the natural listings in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Better rankings typically lead to more click-throughs to your website and, by extension, more site visitors.
Relevant content makes your website valuable, crawlability makes your website accessible to search engine spiders, and credibility makes your views of the world known and deemed important from a search engine ranking standpoint.
Your job? Draw in your audience by sharing relevant content, building a crawlable site, and receiving credible backlinks. Then figure out what you want site visitors to do and make it easy for them to do it.
Relevant Content
Probably the best way to improve your SEO rankings is to publish lots of high-value content. The #1 rule: create content for your target audience, not for search engines. Timely, relevant content can influence your site traffic more than any other SEO tactic.
Your content should show that you’re an authority on the products or services you sell and that your audience should look to you first when they’re in the market for those products or services.
Providing relevant content on a regular basis means you’ll have lots of doors and windows through you can be found — by search engines and by your audience. And compelling content means that more people will be sharing your content, which is super important to your site’s search engine rankings these days.
Crawlability
Yes, crawlability is still an ugly word. Roger that. Here’s the thing: A crawlable website is a website that gets found, so this is one ugly word that might be worth integrating into your daily vernacular.
A search engine optimized website is one that search engine spiders (aka, bots) can crawl through and understand. When you make your site crawlable, more of your site pages will be indexed in search engine search results, making it easier for prospective customers to find you.
Search engine bots perform simple tasks. They crawl text (including alt text, also called alt tags) and follow links. If search engine bots run into too many broken links, images without alt-text, and other roadblocks, they’ll likely abandon your website, which will negatively affect your rankings.
Credibility
Another way to improve your search engine rankings is credibility, which can be reinforced through backlinks. Backlinks are external links from credible sites that point their own site visitors back to your website. Backlinks from credible sites tell search engines that your content is valuable, which improves your rankings. And, of course, better rankings lead to more traffic.
You may be thinking, “Great! All I need to do is buy a bunch of backlinks.” However, keep in mind that Google may penalize you or even remove you from their index completely if they find out you’re buying links.
Social signals are also factored into ranking algorithms. Social signals refer to a webpage’s collective shares, likes, and overall social media visibility as perceived by search engines. These activities can contribute to your website’s organic search ranking and can serve as another form of citation, similar to backlinks. In short, the more your content is shared online, the better your SEO performance.
