We hiked into Devikulam, where we were invited to witness a Hindu ceremony. The hill station is in the midst of tea plantations, 8km from Munnar in Kerala, India. The woman holding the child asked me to photograph the children one by one. I offered to send the woman the photos, but she doesn’t have text messaging or email, let alone a phone or a computer.
Through a translator, I asked if she had any photos of her family, any at all. She said no.
I think about that. A lot.
