This is the eternal struggle. My eternal struggle. For real. I call it the Contradictory Delusion Highway, and it’s a no fun place to drive.
“I think it’s fairly common for writers to be afflicted with two simultaneous yet contradictory delusions, the burning certainty that we’re unique geniuses, and the constant fear that we’re witless frauds who are speeding toward epic failure.” Scott Lynch
On any random day, I’m either a genius or an imbecile. My novel is either going to be the best book ever published or the dumbest thing to never find its way into print. It’s a poorly paved road to slog, the Contradictory Delusion Highway.
Thing is, I love my book, and I can’t fathom a world in which I’m the only person who loves it. So genius, fraud, or something in between, I’ll keep on keeping on.
