When I’m working at the 910 Arts building in the evening, I hear the Capoeira drummers and chanters in the studio next door. From what I can tell, the Capoeira gang knows only one song, and they hit up their go-to tune for hours on end each night.

Have you seen Capoeira? It’s an Afro-Brazilian martial arts-based form of dance where people make a circle and take turns kickboxing to a musical beat in the inner circle. It’s totally awesome. My friend LuAnne is in town from Sacramento, and yesterday we cruised around town. She rode my red Electra Hawaii, and I rode my orange Felt Claire. A 60-degree Denver day. Rock on.

We headed down 32nd, detoured down Wyandot, passed the Parisian-inspired Z Cuisine and À Côté, spiraled down Highland Bridge, passed the Confluence Park fire dancers and drummers and a jaunty guy on a Penny-Farthing, and rode along the Cherry Creek Trail. A rusted-out train rumbled past, and a labrador retriever chased birds through the creek alongside us as we rode.
