INSTRUCTOR, The University of Colorado at Boulder, Boulder, Colorado. Designed and co-taught a writing seminar to graduate students in the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program.

PROJECT MANAGER, Colorado Secretary of State, Denver, Colorado. Managed the following projects: electronic rules web publishing system, leased space negotiation and acquisition, web-based timekeeping, web-based helpdesk, and electronic notarization. Directed and monitored organizational operations, policies and procedures, improvement initiatives, resource use, delivery of services, and schedules. Participated in request for proposal (RFP) design and contract proposal evaluation.

EDITORIAL MANAGER, LexisNexis, Charlottesville, Virginia. Built and managed a large publications department, producing municipal codes for 1,000+ cities/counties nationwide. Supervised 35 editors and contractors. Developed training plans and instituted staff training in legal editing, publishing, word processing, customer service, and indexing. Developed and oversaw production, budgets, resource assignment, and performance metrics. Designed and implemented strategic business plans and communications initiatives.

INSTRUCTOR, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. Created curricula for and taught courses in writing, public speaking, and literature. Received exceptional evaluations from students and rankings in the top 5 of 60+ writing instructors. Used a variety of instructional methods, including direct instruction, cooperative learning, small and large group discussion, team games, independent study, and a portfolio grading system. Mentored new instructors through sharing curricula, lesson plans, and methodologies.

PUBLICATIONS MANAGER, INRI (Northrop Grumman), Reston, Virginia. Built and led a new publications department and took responsibility for the new department’s identity and reputation. Hired and supervised a staff of 7 writers and produced hundreds of documents for government/military clients. Directed departmental operations, participated in corporate strategic planning, and co-authored multimillion-dollar contract proposals. Developed all departmental processes for writing, editing, website management, and quality assurance.

PROPOSAL WRITER, EDITOR, AND INSTRUCTOR, Unisys Corporation, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. Researched, wrote, and edited marketing copy, business plans, presentations, and software manuals. Managed and wrote large sections of multimillion-dollar contract proposals. Supervised two staff. Wrote speeches for military officers.
